Fishing folk – are you up for a challenge? Legend has it that somewhere in the lake at Trapp Fishery lurks a mirror carp weighing more than 25lb. No one's managed to hook the elusive beastie so far… could it be you? Even if you don't land this whopper, there's plenty more to cast for, including bream, tench and common carp (some tipping the scales around 20lb). Beginners and kids may have more luck with smaller silverfish, and lessons are available to pick up techniques.
Should you not fancy fishing at all, the peaceful pitches here still make a smashing base for exploring south Wales. A footpath leads from site up to hilltop Carreg Cennen Castle and into the Bannau Brycheiniog National Park beyond, while the beaches of Gower Peninsula and Carmarthen Bay lie around 45 minutes by car. Facilities are kept fairly minimal to preserve the rural vibe – expect a toilet block with wheelchair-accessible facilities, picnic tables and a motorhome service point. Drive into Llandeilo, 10 minutes away, for pubs, restaurants and takeaways.

We've just stayed in the cottage at Trapp Fishery. Had a brilliant weekend, cottage is warm and has everything you could need and John is very helpful. Walking distance to Carreg Cennen castle with outstanding views and they serve great food. Short drive to Llandeilo which has lovely shops, pubs and eateries. We could see plenty of carp in the lake and you can buy day tickets. Plenty of electric hook up for camping too

Wonderful setting, very peaceful. The yurt is amazing magical roasting marshmallows over the fire in the evenings. Stuffed full of wildlife and amazing clean brown trouts. Ian was a wonderful host and couldn't do enough we are deffinitly revisting as soon as we can again. A really amazing place for fishing or camping thank you so much !!!

Such a stunning place, Ian showed as to our pitch and also the facilities, toilet and showers were immaculate. Was made to feel very welcome the lake is well stocked with fish. I really can't fault this campsite at all infact it's one of the best we have stayed in

Lovely place, lan and his mum are lovely, so helpful. Can't wait till we come again. New shower block should be up by then too.
