Rhandir Long House

Carmarthenshire

Photo: Google Maps

Rhandir Long House is a converted 19th-century barn on a 200-acre working sheep farm in Carmarthenshire, deep in the Brecon Beacons National Park. The property sleeps 6 across three bedrooms—two doubles with ensuite bathrooms and one twin on the ground floor—and sits on dramatic high ground overlooking two valleys. What makes it genuinely useful for a group is the practical spec: three bathrooms mean no queue in the morning, the kitchen is properly fitted with a dishwasher and electric cooker, and the essentials—heating, electricity, wi-fi, bed linen and towels—are all sorted from arrival. There's a wood-burning stove in the living room with initial fuel provided, and a washing machine for longer stays.

The house opens onto a lawned garden with patio and furniture, and the wider grounds include woodland walks, streams and terraced areas. The setting is genuinely remote but purposeful: within reach are the pubs and restaurants of Trapp (2 miles), Llandeilo (6 miles) and Llangadog (8 miles). The National Park itself is the main draw—paths and trails across all difficulty levels for walking, cycling, mountain biking and horse riding are on the doorstep, and if you want something more structured there are activities from photography to paragliding and canoeing organised through local operators. The beach is 28 miles away. No smoking in the property.
