About Marine Hotel

A generous buffet breakfast is one of the highlights at the Marine Hotel, with plenty of choice to set guests up for a day on the North Wales coast. There's also a restaurant, a snack bar and a bar at the property, plus packed lunches available for those heading out to explore, and drinks can be brought to the room.

The hotel has 114 rooms, many with sea views, and reports suggest they're kept clean and spacious, though some are on the older side and could do with updating. All rooms are en-suite, and the hotel has a lift, free WiFi and an indoor swimming pool that guests rate highly. Staff are consistently described as friendly and helpful. Parking is available but has been noted as pricey, so it's worth checking costs in advance.

Set on Vaughan Street in Llandudno, the hotel makes a practical base for the town's Victorian architecture and coastal attractions. Nearby options include golf, fishing, horse riding, watersports, cycling and walking routes, along with local pubs, restaurants and entertainment. Pets are welcome, making it a suitable stop for those travelling with dogs.

I was extremely disappointed with my stay. After booking, I was only then informed that the hotel was undergoing construction work via WhatsApp, something that should have been clearly disclosed beforehand. The photos on Booking.com did not accurately reflect the current condition of the hotel or the rooms. The property felt tired and poorly maintained. Carpets throughout the hotel were stained, doors were covered in fingerprints, the windows had not been properly cleaned, and the bathroom was dated, with stained shower curtains that gave it an uninviting appearance. Housekeeping was also below expectations. I was provided with only one bath towel for a three day stay even after following instructions that if you need a new one to leave in shower, and my room was serviced just once. Additionally, the lift was out of service, which should have been communicated before arrival, especially for guests with luggage or mobility concerns. No assistance with luggage to be taken down four flights of stairs was offered before departure, nor did staff check in to ensure my stay was comfortable. While the hotel’s location is excellent, the overall standard of the property and service fell far short of expectations. The lack of air conditioning made the room uncomfortable, and even providing fans would have made a noticeable difference. Overall, I felt the hotel did not offer the quality or value that was advertised, it felt like a retired old people’s home, where dreams go to die.

Room was clean and comfortable. Tea and coffee facilities were great. Room was a nice size too. There were just a few things that we encountered that made the stay a bit difficult. We found the fire alarm in our room to be too sensitive so we unfortunately set it off with the hairdryer one morning. The other problem is we could not see out of our window on 4th floor due to the green mesh on the scaffolding blocking the view. Breakfast was nice, would have liked perhaps a bit more variety on fruit and healthier options but loved how you could order a poached egg . The furnishings appeared a bit tired, could do with a revamp. My biggest issue was that the lift was out of order all week and I saw a lot of the older less mobile guests struggling with the stairs. Other than that a lovely stay . Staff were very helpful and the cleaning service did a fantastic job with the room.

Booked The Marine Hotel to extend our stay in North Wales. Had spent 2 nights in a lovely hotel in Swallow Falls and thought on our way home we would stay in Llandudno. We arrived to find the hotel covered in scaffold whi was a concern as I had upgraded to a Seaview room. Check on staff first said the room wasnt ready but then it was. We had a small dog with us and were told it was £25 a night for the dog. This is by far the most expensive charge we have had for taking our dog to a hotel and having just been to a beautiful fully dog friendly hotel felt this was excessive in charges but due to the scaffold they would waiver the dog charge which seemed fair. However, just on the charge alone I would not return to the hotel. I was hoping due to having a Seaview room and the excecharge the room would be excellent but I was sorely disappointed. Although the room was large it was very dated, looked like they had bought furniture and soft furnishings from an old Premier Inn. The furniture all looked like it needed replacing. Good size bed but with only one side having bed side cabinetside. Although the room was surface clean there were stains on the walls and the carpet needed replacing or at least professionally cleaning. Very disappointed. The good points were the staff, the bar staff were exceptionally friendly, helpful and professional. We got to meet one of the chefs who was lovely and the gentleman in the restaurant could literally not do enough for you. Breakfast was very good, plenty of choice and hot. Unfortunately due to having a dog we had to sit on the otherside of reception which meant carrying hot food and drinks around but again the gentleman in the restaurant was happy to help. Bar at night was friendly and open spaced. All in all this hotel appears to cater more for coach parties. For us they need to look at the decor and furniture, freshen the rooms up and complete the external works as soon as possible. Also we were woken very early due to the fire alarm going off. There seems to be an issue as I saw someone has previously had the same issue. We were on the third floor and due to a lot of guests with mobility issues getting down the stairs was impossible. Also, having to carry the dog down stairs was an issue. After managing only one flight the message came back it was a false alarm. Someone had sprayed deodorant near a fire sensor. Also, during our stay someone got stuck in the lift and fire brigade were therefore an hour trying to get them out. Sorry to say even though the staff were by far the best bit of the hotel we would not return.

My 13-year-old daughter and I have just returned from a two-night stay at the hotel. It’s ideally located on the promenade, around a 10-minute walk from the pier. There is currently some re-roofing work taking place, so scaffolding is visible on the outside of the building. Check-in was friendly and efficient. We stayed in Room 120 on the first floor, which had a lovely sea view. The twin room was spacious and bright, and while the bathroom was small, it was perfectly adequate. Our package included bed, breakfast and an evening meal. The Sunday evening menu was excellent; however, the Monday menu didn’t offer anything suitable for my teenage daughter, so we chose not to dine in the restaurant that night. It would be helpful if the hotel could provide an alternative menu to better cater for children and teenagers. Breakfast offered plenty of choice, although on Tuesday morning several hot items had run out and hadn’t been replenished. We also enjoyed using the swimming pool on Monday morning—it was quiet and we had the pool to ourselves for at least half an hour. Unfortunately, the changing rooms were out of service, which meant we had to return to our room in wet swimwear and wearing towels around us. Parking was convenient, as I was able to park opposite the hotel on the front. Parking is free between 4pm and 10am, so it only cost £5.40 to leave the car there for the duration of our stay. Overall, although the hotel feels a little dated, it was clean, reasonably priced, and the service was attentive.
