About The Cumberland
Llandudno's promenade and coastline are the backdrop to The Cumberland, a family-run B&B on North Parade. It's the kind of setup where the owners are on hand rather than distant management, and the place has a personality of its own, with bright, individually decorated rooms and a lively lounge and bar area rather than anything corporate or muted.
Rooms come with en-suite bathrooms, free WiFi, and views out towards the sea or the surrounding hills, and family rooms are available for those travelling with children. Breakfast is included, packed lunches can be arranged for a day out, and drinks can be brought to your room. There's 24 hour reception and luggage storage for early arrivals or late departures.
Outside, the area lends itself to walking and cycling, with golf and fishing also within reach, and watersports available along the coast for the more active. Pubs, restaurants and other eateries are close by, and The Summit Complex adds a further point of interest nearby. Llandudno itself is a short distance away by road, making The Cumberland a straightforward base for exploring the town and coastline.
What guests say
If this place had a personality, it would wink at you as you walked in. Staying at this old Victorian hotel was like stepping into a time machine—if time machines came with sea views and surprisingly good tea. The building itself is full of character: creaky floors, high ceilings, and just enough mystery to make you wonder who might have stayed here 100 years ago (hopefully friendly ghosts only). And then there’s the view… absolutely stunning. Waking up to the sea stretching out in front of you makes it dangerously tempting to cancel all your plans and just stare out the window like a poetic lighthouse keeper. The real highlight, though, is the owner—Philipine, charming, warm, and with an almost supernatural eye for detail. Nothing escapes them. You could move a cushion half an inch and somehow they'd know (but in a comforting, not scary, way). They make you feel genuinely welcome, like you’ve arrived at a very stylish relative’s seaside home. It’s not modern, it’s not perfect—and that’s exactly why it’s brilliant. If you want spotless minimalism, go elsewhere. If you want charm, stories, and a stay that makes you smile for no obvious reason, this is the place. Five stars, and I’m half convinced the building itself deserves one too. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Bit disappointed, as we were on the second floor which meant we had four flights of stairs to climbe .My husband is disabled and we are both in are 70sso we did find it difficult. We were a bit late arriving, because of traffic and apparently they had given our room to other guests.

We got upgraded to a sea view room, which was totally awesome 👌. The room has a couch and 2 armchairs. For us, that was amazing to see. There is also a mini fridge, so you can purchase yourself some snacks and things from the local shops. The only thing on this trip was that the proprietor was not feeling too great, so there was no breakfast being served.
