About Llanddeusant Youth Hostel

Tucked into the remote Carmarthenshire hills near Llangadog, this no-frills youth hostel offers a handful of pitches in its front garden, overlooking sheep-dotted fields and spectacular mountain scenery. Campers share the hostel's communal facilities—cooking area, showers, launderette, drying room—and there's a small shop stocking limited supplies (call ahead if you're arriving late and need provisions). A secure bike shed and free children's bikes make this an excellent base for families and cyclists tackling the surrounding trails, while the peaceful, wildlife-rich setting appeals to walkers and wild-camping purists.

Campfires are allowed, and the hostel welcomes Duke of Edinburgh groups, rallies, and student parties. Do note that dogs aren't permitted, which may disappoint some. But for budget travellers seeking solitude, starry skies, and access to canoeing, fishing, and mountain biking nearby, Llanddeusant delivers exactly what you'd hope for from a back-to-basics Brecon Beacons bolthole.

Great accommodation in a beautiful spot with fantastic views. Really peaceful and able to access great mountain walks straight from the door and even more to choose from a short drive away. The newly renovated lodge is warm, light and modern. Downstairs is spacious with a well equipped kitchen and upstairs the rooms are well arranged with surprisingly comfortable bunks! Loved the individual reading lights and USB sockets! We had a fantastic weekend and would definitely recommend the lodge to those looking for outdoor adventures with a large group. Thank you

This is an amazing, clean and very well appointed lodge in a beautiful and peaceful location. I took a group of 15. It housed us all very comfortably. Kitchen has absolutely everything needed to cater for a large group and all of it in fantastic condition. Garden and incredible view at the front with barbecue and lots of bench seating and tables is a marvellous spot to start and end each day. Location is a dream if you want to get out and about for a walk/trail run. Owners are very responsive and helpful. An all round wonderful place that we will return to.

Stayed with family for a few nights. Beautiful views from the garden. Decent bunkhouse - the showers and toilets were a bit pokey and the ovens don't work that well. It was a great stay and the children loved the fire pit.

Almond Lodge Bannau Brycheiniog is in a beautiful setting, with fantastic views over the hills, especially at sunset. The Lodge has been very well renovated, the living/dining area is spacious and comfortable, and the kitchen really well equipped, everything you could need to cook for large groups. The dorms are a good size and the bunk beds very comfy. Special vote for the 'loo with a view' ! We enjoyed some fantastic walks - the owner is very knowledgeable about the area and can advise on where to go and what to do. Our group had a really enjoyable weekend and I would love to go back at a different time of year to explore more
