About Cosmos Camping

If you're chasing dark skies, dramatic mountain backdrops and proper Welsh peace and quiet, Cosmos Camping delivers. Set within a Dark Sky Reserve off the spectacular A4069, this adults-only tent site offers spacious non-electric pitches – each with its own firepit – where you can watch the Milky Way unfurl overhead (logs available on site). Views stretch across the Black Mountains, and walks from the gate lead into the Brecon Beacons National Park, with red kites often circling above and the pond and river below perfect for picnics.

Hosts Alex and Bob have thought of everything: the communal kitchen is stocked with hot water, microwave, fridge-freezer, kettle, even emergency tea supplies, while the shower block is spotless. There's also an on-site bar and food truck for when you can't be bothered to cook. Dogs are welcome under close control (livestock nearby), and garden trolleys help shift your gear from the car park. It's a genuinely peaceful spot – and with a perfect 5.0 rating, visitors clearly agree.

A great little campsite at the foot of the Black Mountain. Bob and his wife were wonderful hosts and provided a very warm welcome. A great atmosphere around the fire pit and the wonderful little bar in an old horse box. My brother and I were travelling with our bicycles and only stayed for one night but would have liked to stay for longer. I would highly recommend Cosmos Camping to anyone (and already have)

We stayed at Cosmos Camping in Brecon for the final night of our 1,600-mile road trip around Wales, and honestly, it couldn’t have been a better choice. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with such a warm welcome from the owners, Bob and Alex. They were friendly, relaxed, and genuinely lovely—more like catching up with old friends than checking into a campsite. They gave us a quick tour, showed us the facilities (the showers are absolutely divine), and made us feel instantly at home. The site itself is small, peaceful, and adult-only, which really adds to the calm atmosphere. It’s also located in Britain’s only dark sky reserve, making it the perfect place to unwind and take in the stars—exactly what we were hoping for after a long journey. Bob and Alex really go above and beyond. Bob even let us know we could use a walkie-talkie to reach the on-site bar if we needed anything, which was a nice touch. After heading out to grab food, we discovered the incredible “Top Gear road” nearby—an unexpected highlight with stunning scenery that made the trip even more memorable. When we got back, we enjoyed drinks from the bar, and despite us being one of the two groups of guests that night, Bob kindly offered to open up in the morning for coffees before we set off. That level of thoughtfulness really sums up the whole experience. What stood out most was how much they genuinely care. Alex mentioned that they know guests are spending their hard-earned time off there, and they want to make it special—and it really shows in everything they do. I’m honestly lost for words when it comes to the hospitality. The whole experience was flawless. If you’re looking for a peaceful, beautiful, and welcoming place to stay in Wales, Cosmos Camping is an absolute gem. We’ll definitely be back.

Bob & Alex run an excellent dog-friendly, adult-only campsite. We felt welcomed from the get go (even with our spicy dog!), loved the community vibes when others were on site. Each campsite has a fire pit on it, and there’s a communal fire pit. Great showers (always hot water available!), super clean facilities and loved access to a kettle! Well stocked and priced coffee and drinks. Excellent location, can’t fault the place.

Wow, what a lovely campsite, we stayed just for one night in the ‘Sun’ campervan pitch, just wish we’d booked more though, no starry sky for us but that’s just the luck of the weather, lovely small adults only site in a stunning location, facilities are so clean and everything you could wish for, hosts Bob and Alex both super helpful and welcoming, nothing too much trouble but never intrusive, lovely people with a great sense of humour, who care about not only their site but the wider area they live in. We will definitely be back. Recommend 100% Thanks both
