About Romney Meadows Caravan and Camping Park

For a peaceful retreat in the Romney Marsh, this well-kept site sits just outside New Romney with easy access to shingle beaches, nature reserves and the historic Cinque Ports. The 26-50 pitch park offers both grass and hardstanding options, all with optional electric hook-up, and welcomes tents, tourers, motorhomes, dogs and families looking for a quiet base to explore this atmospheric corner of Kent.

Facilities cover the essentials – clean toilet blocks, showers, launderette and chemical disposal – plus thoughtful extras like a shared kitchen, communal fridge-freezer for ice packs, and a wifi hotspot. The landscape here is steeped in history: once submerged beneath the Channel, later a Roman port, then a smuggler's haven during the Napoleonic era. Staff are knowledgeable about local walks and will happily point you towards footpaths, cycling routes and Romney Marsh Visitor Centre.

New Romney's shops and pubs are a short drive away, while nearby diversions include fishing, golf, watersports and coastal cycling. It's a considerate, restful spot that can feel a little no-frills if you're after entertainment on site, but perfect for those who value peace and a genuine sense of place.

We absolutely loved our stay. We had a tent set up, with plenty of room. The site is quite small but not overcrowded so we had plenty of space. Staff were really helpful. Lovely local town with very friendly people. Gorgeous walk to the beach which took around 1.5 hrs (so I would definitely drive if you’re not a keen walker!) Lovely clean and warm showers, no complaints! Only note is that you cannot keep your car at the campsite, you have to keep it in the car park which was fine.

Second time staying here and it’s actually my favourite campsite ever, in such a good spot you can easily walk to the end of the road to catch the bus into New Romney or straight to the beach. Lovely facilities always kept looking tidy, lovely cafe on site and a little shop for convenience items, as it was quiet i was given the choice of where i wanted to pitch up, lovely hosts and I’ll definitely be back again. No faults at all.

We spent a night here in our campervan, lovely little site, quiet, clean and friendly. Good facilities, small shop, showers, toilets and laundry room, washing up, waste water. All basic but clearly kept clean and well maintained. Shower temperature was perfect and plenty of hooks, which is detail that often gets overlooked. Good size level ground half gravel plots. Beautiful views of the surrounding countryside with very little traffic noise. The camping pods look comfortable with proper beds and decks, Gentle rustle from the surrounding Lyme trees and bird song are the loudest thing on site. Will definitely be returning.

We only stayed for one night but loved it and will go back soon! Pre-arrival instructions and check-in were clear and efficient. Other reviewers have mentioned the large number of site rules and this did slightly put me off booking, but they are all common sense measures to keep the site pleasant for everyone, and are not rammed down your throat like on some other sites. The site itself is spotless, peaceful and well equipped, with spacious pitches and plenty of trees around the boundaries for screening/shading. It’s a very dog friendly site, with walks from the entrance, but the pooh bins could maybe do with more frequent emptying…we got frequent whiffs when there wasn’t much wind to disperse the odours! Overall a really lovely site in a great location for exploring the Romney Marsh.
