Wood Farm Caravan and Camping Park

Axminster Rd, Charmouth, Bridport DT6 6BT, UK

Spacious family park near Charmouth, half a mile from the beach

About Wood Farm Caravan and Camping Park

Wood Farm sits in open Dorset countryside just outside Charmouth, roughly three miles from Lyme Regis, offering generous grass pitches for tents, caravans and motorhomes alongside static holiday homes and timber camping pods. The park's facilities are geared towards families on longer stays: a heated indoor pool and sauna, on-site café and shop, games room, and two separate dog-walking meadows away from the main pitching areas. Modern shower blocks serve the touring area, where electric hook-ups are available throughout.

Charmouth beach—another prime Jurassic Coast fossil-hunting spot—is about a 20-minute walk, with Lyme Regis a short drive or longer coastal ramble beyond. The park's scale and amenities make it popular with families wanting entertainment on-site rather than a purely quiet rural escape, and it gets notably busy during school summer holidays when the pool and play areas see heavy use. Book well ahead for July and August; outside peak times, it offers a more spacious, relaxed alternative to camping closer to Lyme Regis itself.

The pod was a great change from staying at a hotel and being stuck in a room. You can spend the night star watching enjoying night life outside the pod. Hanging clothes outside, Ths swimming pool was lovely, the person in charge was lovely and helpful Lovely outside view. Lovely space. Great spot for parking car. On a negative side I can say is that I wouldn't use woodfarm again because of their showers and cubicle facilities. Felt like a prison inside. After doing activities all day, whatever it is, especially when it's a hot day. Anyone would look forward to taking a shower and enjoy the rest of their day. But I actually dreaded it. My children didn't want to go in the cubicle. Update the showers heads. So old school, need to modernise them and make them with more water pressure so we can actually wash the shampoo out of the hair properly. Felt like water coming out of a watering can. It felt extremely annoying to have a shower with such poor shower facilities. The shower head could not be turned at all. Some cubicles shower was hot some not so lucky. Lightning in the shower was very poor. Very wet floors I think it was cleaned once a day. But stayed very wet throughout the day. I saw a little fall over and my son almost fell. Lucky I held his hand. I really hope my review is taken seriously and not just as a comment thrown aside. Just because we stayed in a pod doesn't mean the quality of the basic bathroom cannot be provided. I am sure I am not the only one who has complained. Other than that. Everything was great. Yes I would consider rebooking only if the facilities for people who book the pod was drastically improved.

When we booked, it said there was a cafe and bar on the site. The cafe wasn't open at all when we were here, and the bar was part of the cafe, not it's own thing. Being a bar, you would presume that it would be open in the evenings, this is not the case at all. There was no place to go for a drink in the evenings. When people stay at a place like this you would expect people to be off out on day trips during the day and want to come back and maybe go for a drink in the evening. I do sadly feel this site has no business sense at all. My grandad has mobility issues and we put in our notes we wanted a caravan as close to the amenities (what we thought would be the cafe, bar and pool) as possible. The guy who checked us in was really nice, but he seemed confused at the request. I really don't understand how that's a confusing request to ask? So... guess where our caravan ended up being? Right at the top of a hill! I know you can't always accommodate requests, but the fact it was basically shrugged off and ignored completely was just a bit ridiculous. Now the good bits! The pool was really lovely. With really nice staff working in there. Really made the experience a great time. The caravan we stayed in was lovely and was very clean. It had all the things you would need for staying in a caravan for a week. Weirdly though, our little balcony/veranda was just facing a bush? Very odd decision there. The site was clean all over to be honest. With the grass being maintained well and a lovely little water feature on the entrance of the area we were staying. Checking in was super simple, which is what we needed after a long journey to get here. Overall, it was a frustrating visit as I loved a lot of how it felt here. Just the amenities lets it down completely and make it just feel empty and boring to stay here, so therefore we have no reason to return at all :( Ps if you want to watch TV when you're here, don't expect to be able to get BBC as the TV didn't have it.

Honestly an absolutely stunning location for a getaway. Not too far from the beach and a nice pond you can walk around on site. I had a wonderful chat with one of the staff members regarding the swimming pool. It can sometimes get a bit hectic but if you go later in the day/evening it can be calmer. I would love to come back at some point and take in the nature again.

I have just had the best park holiday ever at Wood Farm. The staff at reception couldn't be more friendly and helpful. The grounds were beautifully maintained and the accommodation was fantastic. The caravan was spotless and well presented. Being a smaller site meant each caravan was well spaced and a bonus was a decking area to sit and watch the world go by. Because there is no entertainment, the site was blissfully quiet. Wood Farm is not your average holiday park site and far surpassed my expectations. I was so impressed and loved it so much that I booked another stay for the end of next month - recommendation indeed
