About Bare Bones Camping
Tucked into the Dinas Mawddwy valley just inside Snowdonia National Park, Bare Bones Camping offers exactly what its name suggests: a pared-back, adults-only retreat where the focus is firmly on the landscape. With the River Dyfi winding past and mountain views stretching in every direction, this small site feels genuinely remote—though Machynlleth and its Centre for Alternative Technology are only 25 minutes away, and the coast at Barmouth half an hour's drive.
The four acres of grassland give plenty of room to find your own secluded pitch, and there's fishing on the river if you fancy it. An on-site restaurant means you won't go hungry, and the shower block is accessible around the clock. Facilities are deliberately simple, so if you're after glamping bells and whistles, look elsewhere—but for walkers, wild-campers and anyone craving a proper escape into Snowdonia's quieter corners, Bare Bones delivers.

What visitors say
The campsite is certainly in a very pleasant position but the washing and toilet facilities could really do with a bit of a clean. They are perfectly functional but give the appearance of simply not being looked after on anything like a regular basis. There also appear to be no late night rules concerning noise and lights - we were kept awake until one o'clock in the morning by loud conversations from one of the adjacent static homes. It really wouldn't take much for the owner to address these two issues and in doing so improve the site significantly.

have been staying here for a long while now and return each year to same pitch and smiling faces nice to see the donkeys as always and enjoy the view of the surrounding mountains

A beautiful and peaceful spot! Owls and the local stream were pretty much the only noise. Friendly owners and a nice field to stay in. Showers ok, but do bring some 20ps! Thank you for the two nights!

Full marks for the beautiful position of this site, the owners are very nice and live onsite and offers one of the best picturesque views you would find in Wales. A river passes by the pitches and a Meirion Wool shop is just opposite that offers decent Wales crafts.
