About Gwerniago Camping Site
Gwerniago is a working farm campsite tucked into the southern edge of Eryri National Park, just outside Pennal village in the Dyfi Valley. It's three miles from Machynlleth and a quarter-hour drive from the beaches at Aberdyfi, with grass tent pitches and fully serviced hardstanding for tourers spread across gently sloping fields that look out toward the estuary and surrounding hills.
The setup is straightforward—parking beside tent pitches, a functional toilet block, and a relaxed, family-run feel that welcomes dogs and campfires. It works well as a base for walkers, cyclists, and families exploring the Dyfi Osprey Project, Talyllyn Railway, or Centre for Alternative Technology, all close by. Some visitors note the facilities can feel a touch tired in places, but the location and generous pitch sizes more than compensate. If you're after a simple, well-positioned farm site rather than polished holiday-park amenities, Gwerniago delivers quiet countryside camping within easy reach of both coast and market town.

What visitors say
Amazing place for camping. Shower block spotlessly clean and tidy. Hut where fridge and freezers are located were clean and tidy. Plenty of space for your groceries. We could relax while the children explored and knew they were safe. Lovely family who greeted us and explained where to pitch up. Definitely be going again

Clean facilities. Decent Hot showers. Hairdryer. Good laundry facilities. Free loan of a BBQ. Peaceful. Kids loved it. Helpful reception , put us near toilet as my husband has mobility issues. Neat and tidy site. Bins well labelled and easy to use. Plenty of wildlife. Highly recommend.

Our pitch was very steep, especially in one of the back corners. Paid for fully serviced, but couldn't use the drain because it was on the highest back corner and water won't flow up hill! Facilities were clean and good but not enough for such a large site. However, the views were stunning.
