The Hook & Hatchet Annex sits within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty where ancient woodlands and rolling hills are crossed by walking and cycling trails. The pub itself serves proper food—roasts, burgers, steak and ale pie—and has a large garden where dogs are welcome. This makes it a natural base for groups who want both outdoor exploration and somewhere to eat well without leaving the property.
The annex holds five bedrooms across three floors: four have super king beds with their own shower rooms, and one has two singles. Ground floor living space includes a woodburner, smart TV, and a kitchen equipped for cooking (electric oven, gas hob, air fryer, dishwasher). Four bedrooms have heated towel rails and ensuite cubicle showers. A hot tub for four sits in the back garden alongside a patio and sitting area. Two cars can park on the property. Wi-Fi, electricity, bed linen, towels and woodburner fuel are all included; pets stay free. The property is non-smoking.
Ten people can stay here together. A travel cot and highchair are available. There are steps at the entrance and in the garden.

Such a shame, we tried this place for the first time as a dog friendly pub with gorgeous walks (which is the only attraction for this place) and can agree with the reviews. Not only rude staff but non existent. After waiting for 30 minutes at our table (place was empty) we had to go and ask for menus. We ordered the "trio of roast" and received a slither of beef and a tiny bit of dry chicken. Not exactly a trio. And didnt even have a choice of meats. Neither is it clearly displayed what we should be getting. Food honestly wasn't that special. Again we waited 30 minutes before being asked if we wanted desert menus so we actually went up to ask, by this point we did not fancy it at all. Felt totally ignored, staff just stood around chatting and laughing. A guy told us he had just got back from holiday and didn't know about the trio of roast. We removed our service charge, the audacity to add 12.5% for shocking service. Embarrassing. Won't be returning for food. Just the odd drink in the garden after our dog walk.

A nice little find in the middle of no where. Wife found this for father's day breakfast and what a treat. Set in the middle of the Kent country side a 10 min drive from the 249 you find this lovely place. Arrived to see a lovely garden, well looked after and beyond that if it took your fancy a camping field. (If you want to return to nature and detached yourself from the modern world book here). Anyway ordered food from the bar two breakfasts ( and enough to make a small plate for my 3yr old) and they did not disappoint all nicely cooked and presented, I did not see where they got the food from but you could see it was good quality. We enjoyed our breakfasts in the sun and quiet of the country side it actually felt like you was on holiday. Everyone was friendly and welcoming. We arrived just as they opened and everything was clean and tidy, tables were ready no litter of full ash trays or signs from the previous night. Wanted to stay but had to go but was good to see they were booked out for father's day.

We camped at Hook & Hatchet this weekend and had a fantastic stay from start to finish. The campsite was excellent, with great facilities and a welcoming atmosphere. The managers are amazing and go above and beyond to make sure guests have everything they need. The hospitality here is second to none friendly, professional, and genuinely caring. Nothing was too much trouble, and it really made our stay special. We also ate on site and the food was brilliant, with great quality and service. A wonderful place to camp, relax, and enjoy yourself. Highly recommended, and we'll definitely be returning!

Dreadful customers - we turned up at 1pm without a booking... 4 adults and 2 high chair toddlers. Imagine that, what are the chances of a table, especially for Sunday lunch. Lovely staff found us a comfortable table. Pub was busy but still peaceful. Speed of food served was excellent, and taste of food was fantastic. Good was also well presented. Good served in a good time, and definitely not "ding food" (not microwave or combi cooked, all fresh). Thank you for finding us a table, we will be back!!
