Manchester Airport's surrounding area is not known for characterful places to stay, which makes Etrop Grange something of an exception. Set on Thorley Lane, this Georgian mansion has been converted into a 64-room hotel that trades on its period character as much as its convenient location for flights.
Rooms come with air conditioning, free WiFi and in-room drinks, and the building houses a restaurant, bar and snack bar for guests who don't want to venture out. There's also a spa and sauna, an indoor swimming pool, and meeting rooms and business services that make it a practical choice for work trips as well as travel days either side of a flight. A garden offers a quieter spot to sit, and the hotel also operates as a wedding venue.
Porter and concierge services are on hand, luggage storage is available for those with time to fill before a flight, and free on-site parking is included. Beyond the grounds there are pubs, restaurants and entertainment nearby, useful for an evening out without travelling far from the airport.

In this establishment 3 weeks and cannot find fault with it. Staff leave me in peace to get my head sorted. Two meals per day. Sleeping like a log every night. I feel safe and secure for the first time in years. Have big room with own shower, toilet, sink, kettle. Freeview TV. No issues with fellow residents. They are friendly and easy to get along with. Staff at hand a lot. Managed very well.

After just one night, with no support and no good reason, have kicked out a heavily pregnant woman. This place is a evil as all homeless shelters are in greater Manchester.

The room I had was lovely. Very nice touches, beautiful bathroom, Nespresso machine. Shame the decorating was very dated and in need of attention. I ate dinner in the restaurant and the meal was stunning. All the staff were lovely, friendly. Great location and didn't hear a plane at all even though the hotel is right on the doorstep of the airport. I would happily go back.
