About Holiday Inn Express Manchester Airport
A sizeable four-floor building on Runger Lane, Holiday Inn Express Manchester Airport is built for practicality rather than character, with 199 rooms designed to give travellers an easy, comfortable stay close to the terminals. Rooms are clean and well-kept, with en-suite bathrooms, family rooms for those travelling together, and accessible options available. Beds are comfortable and showers are a particular strength, though some rooms can run warm, so it's worth bearing in mind if you're sensitive to heat.
Downstairs there's a restaurant serving breakfast and evening meals, with kids' meals catered for and a bar for a drink before an early flight. Outdoor seating gives an option for some fresh air, and a lift makes moving between floors straightforward. On-site parking is available, though it comes at an extra cost.
The location is the main draw here, with the airport close by and pubs and restaurants nearby for those wanting to eat off-site. Staff are consistently described as friendly and helpful, making check-in and early departures that bit smoother. It's a hotel built around convenience, and it delivers on that promise.
What guests say
We stayed at this hotel during our trip to Morocco and I must say it is definitely a five-star hotel, mainly because of its outstanding customer service. From the moment we arrived, every member of staff was polite, welcoming and happy to help with anything we needed. They went above and beyond, especially when it came to looking after our young children, which made our stay even more enjoyable. We also had breakfast the following morning, and once again the service was excellent. Everything was well organised, the staff were attentive, and there was a great selection available. The hotel has plenty of on-site parking, and our room was clean, comfortable and finished to a good standard. A big thank you to all the staff, especially the evening team, for making our stay such a great experience. We would happily stay here again and highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the area.

Avoid this hotel at all costs! Let me start with the 21st-century basics: Wi-Fi and 5G signals — nope. This hotel is located in a dead zone, and their Wi-Fi is simply useless (see speed test results). Be prepared to freeze your digital life while you are there. This hotel is a 30-minute walk from Manchester Airport, and yet they CHARGE for a shuttle bus service 🤣. If you need transport between 22:00 and 03:00, you are on your own — your best bet is a £13 Uber. Now, the hotel itself is a total disgrace. BE AWARE: THERE IS NO AIR CONDITIONING. The only time they make you aware of this is in a booking reminder three days before your arrival, by which time it’s too late to do anything about it. The point of running an "Airport Hotel" is to provide convenience and comfort for guests arriving and leaving at odd hours to catch flights or after landing on red-eye flights. This hotel doesn’t even provide a bottle of water in the room. The only drinking water available is in the lobby. The room itself has a weird smell, and the furniture is either dirty or badly in need of replacement. I hate myself for thinking breakfast might offer a chance at redemption — no, the coffee tastes like cigarettes and the juice tastes like baby sick. The staff were rude, and I left after two minutes. All in all, I hope IHG removes this hotel from their brand, as this stay has completely ruined my confidence in IHG.

My experience at the Holiday Inn Express Manchester Airport was exceptional. The staff were incredibly welcoming, and I found my stay very enjoyable. I would like to particularly thank Amber for helping me with some key administration I had forgotten to complete a day before my flight. Amber is a credit to the team, and made my stay all the more enjoyable. Alex

Our first stay here was extremely disappointing. We specifically booked this hotel to rest before a 34-hour flight, but the room was uncomfortably hot and had no refrigerator, despite travelling with food that required refrigeration during hot weather. Unfortunately, the customer service made the experience worse. While we understand there are health and safety policies, the solutions offered by both staff and management were inadequate and lacked any genuine effort to assist. As first-time guests, we were left to solve the problem ourselves, which was frustrating and far below the level of service we expected.
