One of the great historic houses of England Burghley should be on everyone's list of places to visit. The artwork, particularly the decorative painting is stunning. We found the guides to be friendly and knowledgeable. The facilities are excellent. There are toilets in several places and there are two cafés. Although the coffee was acceptable I found the cakes to be rather bland. I asked for a fruit scone and was given a plain scone which was rather tasteless. I didn't find the young woman behind the counter in the Orangery to be particularly welcoming, however, other members of staff were friendly and helpful. My minor quibbles should not deter anyone from visiting. In addition to the wonderful house the extensive and varied gardens are a delight. In particular the wild flowers were so beautiful The young woman in the garden cafe went out of her way to be helpful. The carpark is some distance from the house and offers neither shade nor shelter

Truly one of England's best historical stately homes, truly magnificent in it's scale and opulence. I would thoroughly recommend it to any visitors. Like many stately homes, it is Elizabeth's in origin, but surprisingly isn't part of the National Trust, operating as an individual charity. The prices are very reasonable, we paid £50 for a family of four.

We went here for the food festival weekend. We were not disappointed free parking lot's of stalls. Lots of food stalls selling food to there and lot's of stalls selling fresh local products

A lovely family day out exploring the gardens and play park. Enjoyed by parents and kiddo alike. Be warned though, food and drink prices are expensive - bring your own!
