Clearvewe

Monmouthshire

The countryside around Usk offers walking routes and quiet villages, with the market town itself four miles away for cafes and shops. Clearvewe sits within this rural setting as a converted barn on its own grounds, available as a whole property to rent rather than individual rooms. It sleeps six across three bedrooms, each with its own bathroom—two kingsize beds on the ground floor and two singles upstairs—so there's privacy built in for families or groups sharing.

The ground floor is arranged as one open-plan living and dining space with a wood-burning stove and kitchen fitted with electric cooking, fridge, freezer, washing machine and tumble dryer. Bed linen, towels and WiFi are provided. Heating comes from a biomass system with underfloor pipes running through the property, and the building generates its own electricity via solar panels. An enclosed garden with patio and garden furniture looks south-facing, and there is parking for three cars on site, plus an electric vehicle charging point if needed.

A travel cot and highchair can be arranged on request. The property is non-smoking throughout.

Very nice place to stay. Quiet and peaceful, out in the countryside, on a hill surrounded by hills and forest with wonderful views and walks nearby. Rachel is wonderful, very friendly and helpful. There was never enough hot water to use any of those amazing bathtubs which was disappointing. The property is well equipped. I very much enjoyed my stay. Thanks Rachel!

The plus side: Rachel and Andy are lovey and make you feel very welcome. Upon asking for the welcome basket as included on the information Rachel did bring this over, and the bread was delicious. The beds and bedding are extremely comfortable and my friend and I both enjoyed great and restful sleep. The roll top baths are a touch of luxury and the shower has good pressure. The Minus: THERE ARE NO VIEWS! It is advertised as being set in 2 acres of owners land and that to me implied secluded and private. It is NOT! The barn is directly opposite the owners home you are heavily overlooked. There is a small courtyard garden for your use with very tired and broken furniture. The outside lighting is insufficient. There are 2 beautiful collie dogs and 4 chickens that make their way into the barn as the gate is not secure and the chickens come under the fence so leaving the door open to the garden is problematic. The door is extremely hard to open and lock as it is warped, it took both of us to lock it when we went out. 1 of the lanes to the barn is not really viable to travel down as it is extremely narrow. It was a lovely base but I would not be happy to spend time in the day there, due to lack of outside space and privacy. The walk in shower is tiny, the shower is very slow draining and water will flow into the bedroom. I just layed a towel on the floor to halt the flow. Towels are supplied but they are very coarse. One of the sofas is very uncomfortable and the high back chair is broken. A bit of love would elevate this property Comfortable chairs, nets, pictures of local area. A welcome basket of breakfast foods possibly an addition of fresh welsh cakes. a more secure gate and recognition of boundaries. An honest description of this property and its location as currently it is misleading. The barn is located directly opposite the owners home. Like a semi detached situation. The main French door way which cannot be opened looks directly at owners home.

Avoid like the plague, this is certainly not luxurious accommodation as stated. The place is filthy, the cooker is extremely unhygienic including all crockery and cutlery were all unusable, to say they have seen better days is an understatement. Walls damp and plaster coming off. Shower room doesn’t drain away and spills over into the bedroom. No plug for the bath so not sure how you are meant to bathe. And the most disgusting thing of all was the soap they left out for us. Both bars had been previously used…we are in the middle of a world wide pandemic where cleanliness is meant to be paramount and we are left with pre used soap. The owner was conveniently away at the time, so only had her step daughter to complain to. No apologies for the complaint and they had the cheek to charge us for the first night... Having travelled 8 hours from Scotland, we had no choice but to stay the first night given distance we had travelled and the time of our arrival. We were out of there like a shot though once it was daylight. - Very Disapointing and still no response from the owner!
