Higher Farm - The Stables

The Stables is a converted barn on a working farm in Martin, a village at the edge of Martin Down National Nature Reserve and within easy reach of the New Forest. The Cranborne Chase and West Wiltshire Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty surrounds the property, making it ideal for walking and cycling; routes start from the gate. Fordingbridge and its local pubs lie close by, and The Hart of Martin is also within reach.

Inside, everything sits on the ground floor. The open-plan living space has a woodburner, Freeview TV and French doors opening to the garden. The kitchen is equipped for proper cooking—electric oven and hob, dishwasher, microwave and coffee machine—plus a washer-dryer. One bedroom holds a double bed, the other two singles; the wet room has a walk-in shower. Bed linen, towels, wifi and heating are provided, and wood for the burner is included. Outside, a lawned orchard garden has furniture, a barbecue and a croquet set (shared with the adjoining barn conversion). There is parking for two cars and a cycle store on site. No smoking throughout. Guests can walk up to see the farm animals—chickens, horses, ponies and sheep—which graze in the fields beyond.
