Domvilles Farm - The Pigsty

Newcastle-under-Lyme

View on Google Maps

The Pigsty sits on a working dairy farm, positioned well for exploring the region's major attractions. Alton Towers is close by, as are the Churnet Valley Steam Railway, Ironbridge Gorge, Trentham Gardens and the five pottery towns. Newcastle-under-Lyme town centre lies 7 miles away; Chester, the Peak District and Birmingham are all within a reasonable drive. A train station nearby connects to Manchester and London.

The whole property is yours alone. Both bedrooms are on the ground floor, each with a double bed and its own shower room. The living and dining area centres on a wood burner with views across the countryside, and a conservatory extends the sitting space—useful for the cooler months or as a retreat. The kitchen is fully equipped for self-catering. Outside, a patio and cottage garden offer somewhere to sit. Parking for two cars is on site.

Essentials including electricity, heating, bed linen, towels and wifi are covered. One pet is welcome. The property is non-smoking. Arrival is after 15:00 and checkout before 10:00.

We have stayed here a number of times now, each time in the “Pig St, a converted barn. The location is lovely and ideal for visiting the local universities. The hosts are amazing, incredibly welcoming and helpful. It’s a working farm that is in some beautiful countryside. It’s very close to the M6, not that you would notice sound wise, and only a short drive into the Newcastle under Lyme town center.

Absolutely gorgeous courtyard that the cottages are situated off. The cottage itself was beautiful too will recommend and would use again. We went as a family of four with a dog. The farm the cottages are situated on is a working farm and can be noisy at times but don't let that put you off!

What a great place. We did a Monday to Friday break here. Everything was there that you could need. Eileen was very helpful. We found we had no hot water on our first night, but they were straight over to sort it out. You have to be aware that this is a working farm with tractors and cow's and noise, it didn't bother us at all, but just remember you get the sound's and smells to go with it. Dog friendly was such a bonus. Would definitely stay again.
