About Otterburn Castle

Oak panelling lines the halls of Otterburn Castle, a small hotel of 17 rooms set in countryside near Newcastle upon Tyne. The historic building has been kept largely intact, giving the place a genuine period character rather than a modern makeover, and it now doubles as a popular wedding venue as well as a comfortable stay for passing guests.

Rooms are en-suite and come in family options, with drinks available in room and round-the-clock reception should you need anything at odd hours. The restaurant is a highlight, with dishes such as crispy skin duck breast drawing praise, and there's a bar, outdoor seating and a garden for quieter moments. Breakfast, room service and business facilities are all available, along with free on-site parking and an electric vehicle charge point.

Staff are consistently described as attentive and welcoming, which goes some way to explaining why stays here tend to be remembered fondly. Pets are welcome, and beyond the grounds there are pubs, restaurants and walking areas nearby for those wanting to explore. Luggage storage makes it easy to head out and about before checking in properly.

This place is an absolute gem 💎. We found it at the very last minute after being let down by another accommodation, and we're so glad we did. When we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by two lovely ladies, Nat and Gab, who couldn't have been more kind, compassionate, and helpful. After checking availability, they were able to offer my husband and me a room for three nights. The hotel itself is beautiful. It has recently been taken over by Nat and Gab, and it's clear they are investing a lot of time, care, and effort into making it even more breathtaking. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely be returning to see all the wonderful improvements they have planned. Highly recommended! 🏨 Thanks to Nat ,Gab, Lewis and all staff who make this place amazing.

What a beautiful place. From the moment driving up the drive, to entering the front door, and getting into my room - it's been like being in a fairytale. Nat and Gabe are extremely helpful and friendly, and it shows that they are putting in their heart and soul into this place. 12/10!

As ever the unorganised, our 15 year anniversary came around too quickly and we had nothing booked. We were driving around Northumberland and decided to book somewhere last minute. We landed on Otterburn castle as they had a room available, and we were not disappointed. The Host made us feel so very welcome and we thoroughly enjoyed our anniversary. We stayed in the Old Library, and I recommend booking this if you can, it is beautiful! Everything about our stay was special and we will be returning sooner rather than later. Thank you!
