About Griffin Inn Newquay

Cliff Road puts Griffin Inn Newquay within easy reach of the town's beaches and the wider Cornish coastline, with the sea and cliff paths never far from the door. It's a straightforward base for a few days spent exploring Newquay, whether that means beach days or venturing further along the coast.

The hotel has 14 rooms, including family and accessible options, all with en-suite bathrooms, and there's free WiFi and drinks available in-room. The restaurant is the property's strong point, with a broad menu running from well-prepared meats and vegetables to a Goan seafood curry and Wagyu burgers, all reasonably priced; the carvery, however, has been a weaker spot on occasion. Staff are attentive and the dining area is kept clean and spacious, with outdoor seating and a garden for fine days, plus a bar for evenings.

Breakfast and packed lunches are available, and practical extras include 24-hour reception, luggage storage, meeting rooms and free on-site parking. Golf, fishing, horse riding, cycling and watersports are all within reach nearby, alongside other pubs and restaurants for those who fancy exploring beyond the inn itself.

Came off a train journey from hell and just so happened to stumble into the griffin. Food was absolutely impeccable, quick and piping hot. Servers were super friendly and helpful. If you fancy a decent bit of pub grub then this is the place to be, thank you!! :) x

Can’t comment on rooms as we didn’t stay at the pub. We were waiting for our pitch to be available at the campsite we were staying at. We were honestly on way to Wetherspoons for breakfast and got turned away because they’ve changed their policy about dogs being in their beer garden. Saw the Griffin across the road and figured we would try it. Wow, glad we did! We got there about 945 and despite not serving the public until 10am normally they happily served us. We had 4 full English breakfast and drinks. Food was delicious and served quickly. They even brought a drink out for our dog. Really impressed and will definitely return next time we are in Newquay. Thanks very much.

The best Sunday Carvery we've had in Newquay. Great value, friendly service and we will definitely be heading back. Many thanks and no photos because we just ate it all!

First time visiting today for sunday lunch and unfortunately do not recommend. Frozen roasties (like aunt bessies) frozen yorkshire puds and stuffing balls. No mashed potatoes. Distinct lack of just veg, only peas, carrots and parsnips, everything else was in a creamy sauce (broccoli bake and dauphinoise which wasn't nice) and very watery gravy. But that aside my main issue was the price charged for my 7 year old. £13.95 and all he had was turkey, roast potatoes, peas and carrots as he will not eat creamy stuff as mentioned above. This should also be charged at a kids meal price btw. The only enjoyable item today were the meats which were very nice. For the price (£15.95 per adult) we expected fresh home cooked produce and a decent choice of vegetables, not in sauces. Was so looking forward to visiting today too. Shout out to the cavery server today though who was lovely and could see our disappointment in the options and tried to placate my son.

Some reviews mention the carvery can be inedible.
