About Penwyth House

Penwyth House suits travellers who want to be near the sand without paying city-centre prices for the privilege - surfers heading to Fistral Beach, walkers keen on the coast path, or anyone happy to base themselves a short walk from Newquay town centre. It's a straightforward B&B rather than a resort, and works well as a low-fuss stopover for a beach break.

Rooms come with en-suite bathrooms, free WiFi and drinks, and breakfast is included to set guests up for the day. There's a garden and outdoor seating for relaxing between activities, plus a picnic area if you'd rather eat outside than at a table. Luggage storage and 24 hour reception make arrival and departure flexible, and free on-site parking is a genuine convenience given how tight parking can be near the beach in summer.

Beyond the doorstep, the area offers golf, fishing, horse riding and watersports, along with pubs, restaurants and cycling and walking routes close by. It's a practical base for exploring Newquay's coastline and countryside in equal measure.

We stayed in the garden room for a few days whilst walking some of the SW coast path. A lovely comfortable room with a great shower, comfortable bed and a view of the pretty garden from the stable door. The room had a fridge with fresh milk which was fantastic. Lisa and Mark are great hosts, with plenty of tips for places to visit and where to eat. The Farmers Arms is a short stroll from Penwyth House, offering pub grub. Breakfast was good, from fruit, cereals, toast and scrambled eggs with crispy bacon or pancakes with fruit and yogurt. Mark sent texts prior to arrival with access details which were really helpful. Parking in the nearby Church car park (you need the pass from Lisa and Mark to pop in the car) or outside the house if there's space. A very enjoyable stay, highly recommend a visit.

What a gorgeous B&B Mark & Lisa have here! From the moment I walked in, I had the warmest welcome and the Daisy room I stayed in was lovely and cosy. As a solo traveller, this suited me perfectly and the lovely, fun’s chats with Mark and Lisa every morning at breakfast set me up for the day ahead before I went off on my exploring! It was in a great location, great price, the room was always spotless and the breakfast was delicious (I had something different every single morning!) I would stay here again and again! Thank you both! X

From the moment you arrive, Mark and Lisa make you feel completely at home. Mark’s warm welcome sets the tone for the stay—he’s incredibly knowledgeable, full of great local recommendations, and clearly loves helping guests make the most of their visit. Lisa’s breakfasts are outstanding, the kind you look forward to the night before. The B&B itself is charming, with a beautiful garden perfect for relaxing after a day out. The room has everything you need, and the massive bathroom in the Porth Suite is a real luxury. Breakfast was a choice of pancakes with fresh fruit and Greek yoghurt or scrambled egg with cherry tomatoes , grilled mushroom bacon on toast, both absolutely delicious and cooked to perfection. Parking was easy—street parking isn't guaranteed , so there’s an option to use the local church car park free of charge which is a two minute walk. For evening meals, the Farmers Arms pub is ideal: friendly, cosy, and just a short walk away. Meals come in generous portions and good value for money. Overall, this B&B is a gem. With wonderful hosts, great food, and a peaceful setting, I would definitely go back.

Dear Mark and Lisa, Thank you both so much for such a wonderful stay — we genuinely couldn’t have asked for better hosts. Your warmth, kindness, and willingness to help with anything made us feel completely at home from the moment we arrived. The rooms were absolutely beautiful — so thoughtfully designed, aesthetic, and comfortable, with a lovely ambience that made it so easy to relax and unwind. It was an absolute joy meeting your lovely dogs — Orla, Charlie, George, and Nelson — they really added something special to our stay. We were especially touched hearing about your final walk with Walnut — such a meaningful and heartfelt memory that truly reflects the love and care you give your dogs. Breakfast each morning was fantastic, and Lisa, your cooking was truly delicious — something we looked forward to every day. Our time in Cornwall has been absolutely beautiful. The scenery and atmosphere have been unforgettable, and honestly, we don’t want to leave! Thank you again for everything — you made this trip so memorable. We will definitely be recommending your place and would love to return again in the future. Warmest regards, Dinesh and family
