Gresham Hall Glamping - Poppy

North Norfolk

Photo: Gresham Hall Glamping

Gresham Hall Glamping - Poppy is a canvas bell tent set in North Norfolk meadowland, with the character of proper camping but the comfort of a heating stove and mains electricity. The single bedroom has a double bed and two pull-out singles for children, alongside a shower room with cubicle and separate toilet. The kitchen area is equipped with an electric hob and microwave for self-catering; outside, a picnic table, fire pit and barbecue space overlook shared grounds. Electricity, bed linen and towels are included, and there's parking for two cars on site.

Location is the main draw. The tent opens onto countryside where Felbrigg Estate's back gate lies just beyond the meadow—a five-minute walk gives you access to the National Trust property's woodland paths, walled garden and courtyard café. Sheringham Park sits within three miles, and the seaside towns of Cromer and Sheringham are a similar drive away. A pub operates within a mile of the site. This setup suits families wanting a step beyond standard camping but without committing to a cottage, or those wanting a rural base for exploring the Norfolk coast. No smoking inside; one well-behaved pet is welcome.

My sister and I pitched up for one night so we could be kids again and for easy access to the coast for fossil hunting. We loved the site, beautiful location, facilities were great, our only suggestion is to reset the shower temperature to a lower setting for the summer, we love a hot shower, but water was too hot! Otherwise, thank you we thoroughly enjoyed our brief stay :)

Stayed 5 nights with our own tent and loved it. Good facilities, great location close to blue flag beaches and local amenities just a few minutes drive away. There is also a fantastic camping store in West Runton should you need any essentials. Georgy and the whole team were lovely. This is the hidden little gem you've been looking for especially for the glamping experience, family friendly, clean and tidy. Would recommend to anyone wanting a peaceful get away.

The location is fabulous. What I would say is this is glamping not camping! We were charged £10 per dog (seems fair), however the carpet and tent wasn’t cleaned so maybe the dog fees are contributing to the Christmas party fund. No hand soap in one of the toilets, freezing shower, eco washing up liquid was standard liquid from a well known German supermarket (small point but if you don’t live it, don’t advertise it!) Bed very uncomfortable. Electric cooler was full of dirty water. Maybe owners used to have excellent attention to detail which in turn resulted in rave reviews, maybe to be competitive in this climate you have to cut corners! Either way this gem can shine again, it just didn’t shine for us!

Good but not great. The signage could be improved - there is one on the main road but it would be helpful to have one in the village. I like the idea of not having cars next to tents - that was really good. More hooks in the (very small) showers and the toilets would be helpful.
