The Maltings is a converted grain store attached to a 200-year-old brewery building in the North Norfolk village of Holt. Everything here works well: the kitchen has an electric oven, hob, dishwasher and coffee machine; the bathroom includes a deep bath with a rainfall shower; heating is underfloor electric throughout; Wi-Fi, bed linen, towels and initial fuel for the wood burner are all included. A sofa bed on the ground floor means the property can accommodate a small third guest if needed.
The layout spreads across two floors. Downstairs, an open-plan living space contains the wood burner, Smart TV and dining area; the kitchen occupies one corner and a bathroom sits at the other end. Upstairs, a kingsize bedroom with exposed beams and vaulted ceilings sits above. A washer dryer and bike store are both available. Outside, there is private parking for one car, an enclosed front garden with patio, barbecue and furniture. One dog stays free and is genuinely welcomed here.
Holt sits between the North Norfolk coast and the Broads, making it a natural base for exploring either. The property does not permit smoking indoors.

A beautiful, place to stay and relax and eat and drink well! Great staff who, whilst always professional, are not afraid to show their own personalities. If you want corporate robots, don't stay here! The hotel is a short walk from the stunning expanse of shingle beach that on one side is the end of the cliffs that go all the way to Cromer, and on the other extends towards what become the sands at Wells. Excellent menu in the Grain Store, which has an open kitchen, which is endlessly fascinating and demonstrates a well deserved sense of confidence. If we get the chance, we will be back.

While we would love to keep this place a secret we should recognise a true little gem. A last minute escape to the coast on a Tuesday afternoon brought us to the Maltings. A stunning establishment and a very short walk to a dog friendly beach which our Collie loved. He was welcome every where all the time we were there with treats in the room and his own bed supplied. The rooms are clean tidy and done to a high spec with toiletries of a quality supplied, the food in the restaurant and bar was beautiful and on a side note the parmesan hash brown nibbles are a game changer. Breakfast was excellent and if like us you love kippers, as we do, this is a great start to the day although a full English is available and looks good, vouched for by our dog who received a complementary sausage. Highly recommended and if we are back there again soon we would definitely return.

Just returned from an exceptional meal for my brothers birthday. The waiting staff were so lovely, friendly, knowledgeable and polite. The food was amazing. The cutlery, plates, setting and ambience was absolutely spot on. Thank you for the birthday cake and the effort you went to. Very much appreciated. Would highly recommend the maltings to anyone, credit to all staff from the cleaners, chefs, waiting staff and managers. Thank you very much

I had the most wonderful stay. The team were amazing and they made me feel so welcome. The room was fabulous and the products in the bathroom smelled beautiful. The mattress and pillows ensured a good night’s sleep. Plenty of choices for breakfast. Of course I will be going back. Well done everyone at The Maltings for making my trip so perfect.
