Vale of Pickering Caravan Park
Carr House Farm, Allerston, Pickering YO18 7PQ, UK
Award-winning five-star park at Allerston, between Dalby Forest and the coast
About Vale of Pickering Caravan Park
Vale of Pickering Caravan Park occupies flat, well-drained ground at Carr House Farm near Allerston, run by the same family since 1986. The long tenure shows: this is a five-star site that was named AA Campsite of the Year, and the facilities justify the accolades. Instead of a communal block, you get private wet rooms and family bathrooms; there's a launderette, on-site shop and café, free wi-fi throughout, and a children's playground. Dogs have their own six-acre exercise field and an outdoor shower by the entrance. Pitches are generously spaced, and quiet hours are strictly observed.
The location on the A170 makes it easier to reach with a large outfit than some moorland parks, and it's reliably accessible in wet weather. Touring and camping pitches all have electric hook-up, or you can book a Belle tent or eco pod. Dalby Forest lies a few minutes north; Pickering and the steam railway are five miles west; Scarborough's beaches around twenty minutes east. Thornton-le-Dale, one of Yorkshire's most photographed villages, is barely two miles away. Open March to early January.

What visitors say
Absolutely fantastic place. Family of five, age 12 6 and 1. Cant go wrong, perfect location, goathland, whitby, Scarborough, falling foss waterfall, damby forest. Kids loved camping. Facilities were immaculate and a bath for the baby, microwave and hair dryers. Park was lovely for when we got back after a day out, felt very safe and looked after. Staff cant do enough and work so hard to maintain the site. We cant wait to come back! My only suggestion would be to have more electric hook ups as 4 pitches for a big site doesn't seem enough when I imagine demand is high. But not a complaint more of a compliment as we like to book last minute and there always booked up 🤣 (cant camp without my air fryer)

This is the second time we have been to the Vale of Pickering caravan park. It is a lovely clean and well set out site. Water taps are spread out around the park, so you haven't got far to go. The staff are amazing, and very helpful. We will definitely be back. Highly recommended.
