Castle View

Richmond commands views across its historic landscape, and Castle View occupies an elevated position that makes the most of them. The town itself centres on a market square and theatre, with shops half a mile away and a real ale pub and restaurant just 200 yards down the road. York, Ripon and Harrogate are within an hour's drive; the Yorkshire Dales National Park starts two miles out. The house suits couples and families rather than large groups.

Inside, Castle View spreads across three floors with three bedrooms and three bathrooms. The first floor holds the main living spaces: a kitchen and dining room with a gas hob and electric oven, dishwasher and all the usual kit, plus a separate living room that opens to a balcony and features a woodburner. Upstairs are bedrooms two and three; the second floor adds the master bedroom with its ensuite. A ground floor utility room has a washing machine and tumble dryer. Wi-Fi, electricity, bed linen and towels are included, along with initial logs for the fire.

Outside, the enclosed gardens wrap around the property with a terrace, garden furniture, a summerhouse and barbecue. There's parking for three cars and a bike store. A travel cot, highchair and stairgate are available if you need them. The house does not permit smoking.
