Ferncroft Cottage
North Yorkshire
Ferncroft Cottage sits in a village at the edge of the Yorkshire Dales, where countryside walks begin practically at the gate and a historic market town lies within easy reach on foot or by car. The Dales themselves, along with the coast further afield, are all accessible from here—this is genuine walking country, with the village anchored by a pub that serves food and maintains the sort of friendliness you find in places where locals still outnumber visitors.
The cottage itself has two bedrooms, each with a zip-and-link super-king bed that converts to singles if needed, and two full bathrooms—one en-suite off each bedroom. Downstairs, the kitchen opens via large bi-fold doors onto an enclosed garden and patio, making the space feel open and connected to outside. A wood-burning stove warms the separate sitting room, and there is a ground-floor WC as well. Electricity, bed linen and towels are included. One well-behaved pet is welcome to stay.
The garden is the real draw: it's fenced, private, and fitted with a hot tub for soaking after long days out. This is a place to come back to and properly rest, not merely pass through. No smoking indoors. Check-in is after 4pm and checkout before 10am.
