Castleton House
North Yorkshire
Staithes is a working fishing village on the North Yorkshire coast, its narrow streets and Victorian architecture perched above a shingle beach. The heritage coastline here draws walkers to the Cleveland Way along the cliff tops, and the village itself has enough character—museum, independent shops, restaurants—to occupy a rainy afternoon. The pub, The Cod and Lobster, is a hundred yards away. Castleton House is a Grade II listed cottage from the Georgian era, renovated but keeping original features: exposed beams, wooden floors, solid pine doors.
The ground floor is one open-plan space with a living area around a wood burner (initial fuel included), a dining area and kitchen with electric cooker, microwave and fridge. Upstairs are three bedrooms—a double, a bunk room for children, and a pair of singles—plus a bathroom with bath and shower. Bed linen, wi-fi and electricity are included. The cottage sleeps 6 and is yours alone. One car can be parked in the village car park 250 yards away with a permit provided; there's a small public seating area immediately outside. Smoking is not permitted inside. One pet is welcome.
