Tholthorpe village sits between two of England's most walked landscapes—the North York Moors National Park and the Yorkshire Dales—and Duck Cottage is right at its heart, overlooking the green and its namesake pond. The New Inn stands across the way, serving food and drink, and the Howardian Hills (an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty) are on the doorstep for walkers. A welcome pack describes local routes and attractions; the owners have listed their own favourites to save you time.
The cottage is all on one floor, making it easy to move around. You get two bedrooms—one with a double bed, one with two singles that zip together—and a shower room with a walk-in enclosure and grab rail. The living room has a 42-inch Smart TV and DVD player; the kitchen (one step down from the living area) is properly equipped with an electric oven, hob, dishwasher, and space to cook properly. A garden room with a wood-burning stove opens onto a patio with seating and a barbecue, all within an enclosed garden. Electricity, Wi-Fi, bed linen and towels are included. Parking for two cars is on site, with more available on the road; there is also a bike store and an electric car charging point (charged separately to the owner).
One dog of any size, or two small to medium dogs, can stay free. No smoking. The cottage began life as a woodworker's workshop and retains original beams, though it has been fully renovated and is bright throughout, with skylights bringing in natural light.
