About Aldwark Manor Estate

The countryside around Aldwark, just outside York, provides the backdrop for Aldwark Manor Estate, a country house hotel set within its own grounds and gardens. It's a good base for exploring North Yorkshire while returning each evening to a quiet, green setting away from the city centre.

The hotel has 53 rooms, described as spacious and well kept, each with en-suite facilities and the option of family rooms or accessible rooms. Guests can eat in the on-site restaurant, with room service and packed lunches also available, and there's a bar for evening drinks. The spa is a particular draw, with a hydrotherapy pool, sauna and gym on site, though at busy times access for hotel guests has occasionally been limited. The estate also caters for weddings, with a bridal suite and VIP facilities, plus business services for those travelling for work.

Outside, the grounds themselves are a highlight, with garden space and outdoor seating to make the most of the setting. A golf course lies nearby, along with pubs, restaurants and entertainment options for those wanting to venture further afield, and free on-site parking is provided for all guests. Pets are welcome too, making it a practical choice for a range of stays.

Beautiful hotel, immaculately clean. Set in stunning grounds. Amazing staff, every single one was helpful and friendly. Elements restaurant had a wonderful ambience, brilliant background music, so relaxing. Food was delicious, I am coeliac requiring gluten free, the staff were very attentive and aware of cross contamination. The Spa was relaxing with a beautiful pool. Will definitely return ❤️

We recently stayed at Aldwark Manor and, unfortunately, the main restaurant was the only disappointing part of what was otherwise an excellent stay. The hotel itself is beautiful. The rooms are stunning, the spa facilities are fantastic, and the surrounding grounds are lovely. Everywhere was spotlessly clean, and the overall standard of the hotel is exceptional. However, our meal in the main restaurant fell well below expectations. The previous evening we had eaten in the Bunkers Bar, and the food there was far superior in both quality and flavour. In the restaurant, one of us ordered the chicken breast and the other the pork tomahawk. Both dishes were served with exactly the same accompaniments – chips, coleslaw and gravy – which felt unimaginative and poorly thought out. The chicken breast was very underwhelming, and while the pork was acceptable, neither dish justified the standard or price you would expect from a hotel of this calibre. The gravy was completely inedible due to the excessive amount of salt, and the coleslaw was equally disappointing. It wasn't chopped properly, the mayonnaise was so watery that it lacked any real texture, and serving coleslaw alongside gravy simply didn't work as a combination. It was such a shame because everything else about Aldwark Manor exceeded our expectations. We would happily return for the hotel, spa and Bunkers Bar, but we would avoid the main restaurant unless the food quality improves significantly.

Was an amazing, if somewhat. Indulgent last minute stay. We waved our daughter off on a school trip in the morning and realised we had our first night of total freedom for many many years. We dropped her off, then went home to start what would be a 3 hour search for somewhere to go. After many a false start, too far to drive, don't like the reviews, the bloke in the advert had a dodgy eye.. and so on. We then came across Aldwalk Manor. The reviews were all fantastic. It was just as amazing in real life. Our new favourite.

We had our wedding at Aldwark on 10th July 2026 and I really wanted to share just how wonderful this venue and the staff are. Right from the day of booking, Kim (wedding / events co-ordinator) was extremely responsive and helped book, arrange and organise the wedding day itself as well as all of the added extras leading up to and after the day. Aldwark really lives up to its tag-line "never ordinary always Aldwark". The location, guest rooms and wedding reception rooms are truly beautiful. We stayed in the Wensleydale room and that really is something that needs to be seen to be believed. I would highly recommend that as an upgrade to give you the best getting ready room with your loved ones. The garden is just breathtaking, and although it is a hotel first and foremost, we truly felt like we had the venue all to ourselves. I loved that our wedding could be a multiple day celebration, with options for a rehearsal dinner the night before on-site, spaces to relax and unwind in the spa, and then the Chartwell for the night after to celebrate our first night as husband and wife. Aldwark isn't your typical hotel wedding venue, with back to back weddings every day. For that reason, we didn't feel rushed to remove all of our stuff the next day and felt like we could really enjoy everything the hotel has to offer. There are so many gorgeous photo opportunities: in the garden, over the bridge, by the fountain and just the gorgeous open green space by the bar terrace. I can't recommend Aldwark enough as a venue for any special occasion, but especially weddings. Thank you to you all. I have added a few photos to showcase the space and the food!
