Hollyhock Cottage

Thorns is a quiet hamlet deep in open countryside, where the dale rolls through grazing meadows and a farm track leads past Hollyhock Cottage to the village of Hawes, a short walk downhill. The converted barn sits peacefully at the end of its own drive, surrounded by the landscape that makes the Yorkshire Dales distinctive—wide fields, stone walls, and the kind of silence that takes getting used to.

Inside, the cottage spreads across two floors. Downstairs holds the living room with a woodburner and the kitchen/dining space, where you can cook properly with a full electric oven, hob and dishwasher. The first bedroom is a kingsize with its own ensuite shower room; the second is a double. Both have heating and there are two bathrooms in total. Bed linen, towels, wi-fi and the first logs for the stove are provided. Initial logs for the woodburner are included. There is parking for two cars on site and an enclosed garden with patio furniture and a BBQ. One dog stays free.

Hawes itself—shops, pubs and restaurants—sits half a mile away. The cottage has steep spiral stairs between floors. No smoking indoors.
