Jenny Spring

North Yorkshire

View on Google Maps

The North Yorkshire Moors edge close to West Ayton, where Jenny Spring sits on a quiet working farm. This traditional stone cottage holds one double bedroom and a single galleried room upstairs, plus a ground-floor bathroom with bath and shower. Downstairs, the open-plan living space has a woodburner, Freeview TV and DVD player, while the kitchen is equipped for full self-catering with electric cooker, dishwasher and washing machine. One dog stays free and the enclosed courtyard garden with patio gives it a safe run around. Bed linen, towels, heating and wi-fi are included; parking for two cars is on site.

Walks start from the door into woodland where deer are common. Dalby Forest, twenty minutes away by car, draws mountain bikers and families to Go Ape. The coast lies within reach: Scarborough is six miles, and Whitby, Filey and Bempton cliffs—where puffins and gannets nest—are all an easy drive. The North Yorkshire Moors Steam Railway at Pickering runs trains up to Goathland, the Heartbeat filming location, and on to Whitby. York Minster and the medieval city centre are under an hour's drive. The village pub and shop are each about a mile and a half away. Note: there is a fenced pond in the grounds, and smoking is not permitted inside.
