Whitby sits on the Yorkshire coast within reach of the North York Moors, and Keel Cottage occupies a small holiday development just outside the town. The cottage itself is a three-bedroom property sleeping up to 6, set back from the main road on Captain Cooks Haven. Inside, an open-plan ground floor combines living and dining space with kitchen facilities for self-catering; upstairs are the bedrooms and a bathroom with shower over the bath. A patio door opens onto grounds shared with other properties on the development—there are picnic tables, two barbecue areas and two children's playgrounds, plus an indoor heated swimming pool (1.1m to 2m deep) available during the day. An unfenced river runs through the shared grounds, roughly 220 yards from the cottage.
The setting gives straightforward access to Whitby's seafront and the moors beyond. The North York Moors Railway runs through the valley nearby, with steam trains stopping at Pickering and Goathland. Essentials like electricity, bed linen, towels and wifi are included; wi-fi means you can book facilities like the swimming pool or arrange laundry (both incur extra charges). Parking for one car comes with the cottage, with additional spaces available on the road. The cottage does not allow smoking.
