Miller Cottage

Miller Cottage stands on the banks of the River Aire, part of a former mill development dating from 1792. The grounds span 8 acres shared with the mill itself, where a functioning mill pond and network of channels create something between a working landscape and a nature reserve. The river lies 30 yards from the cottage; a mill race and pond are also on the property, which matters if you have young children. You get the whole place to yourself, with three bedrooms sleeping up to five people—a double, two singles in another room, and a single bedroom—plus one bathroom.

The layout works for families or small groups. Downstairs holds a living room with woodburner, a separate kitchen/dining area with full cooking facilities (electric oven, dishwasher, microwave), and a toilet. Upstairs has the bedrooms and bathroom with bath and shower. Parking for two cars sits on site; there is also a bike store. Wi-Fi, heating, electricity and bed linen are included, and one dog stays free of charge.

Malham Cove and Gordale Scar lie within 10 minutes' walk. Malham Tarn, one of Yorkshire's largest natural water bodies, is equally close. The market towns of Settle and Skipton offer shops and pubs if you want to venture further. The cottage sits down a private drive but remains very much part of a shared riverside setting, which gives it both seclusion and company.
