Grassington sits within the Yorkshire Dales National Park, a base for exploring river valleys, market towns and moorland on foot. Monkey Cottage is a semi-detached stone cottage positioned just off the high street, where the village's shops and pubs are within a short walk. A pub sits approximately a mile away. From the door you can head straight onto the moors to take in views over Wharfedale, or follow the footpath alongside the River Wharfe for something gentler. Skipton, known as the gateway to the Dales with its Norman castle and cobbled high street, is a short drive; York and its historic attractions are accessible as a day trip.
The cottage sleeps three across two bedrooms—one double, one single—with a bathroom on the first floor. Downstairs, an open-plan living space combines a sitting area with a woodburning stove, dining space and kitchen. You can cook properly here with an electric cooker, and there's a dishwasher and washing machine for the practicalities. Bed linen, towels, Wi-Fi and electricity are included, along with initial logs for the stove. One well-behaved dog can stay free of charge. The property is non-smoking. Note that the stairs are steep and spiral.

We stayed here towards the end of October; two couples. The cottage was superb! Appointed to such a high spec. The underfloor heating to digital showers. Automatic night lights, massive beds and luxury linens. The welcome pack was beyond expectations! The cottage is in a quiet area with amazing views over the dale towards Blakey Ridge. We ate out at reasonably local pubs and weren't disappointed. We spent the days walking locally, in Runswick Bay and Whitby, Hutton le Hole. Rievaulx Abbey and Helmsley. Plenty to do. The owners live opposite. Were there to welcome us but not intrusive at all. Such a lovely cottage

Monket Cottage is a stunning place to stay. The cottage is luxurious and has everything you need. The views are stunning and we received a warm welcome. The pub in the village is a short walk away and serves great food. Lots to do in the area too. Will definitely be back!

Location Location !! Four adults have just stayed a week in this converted cottage, we had a wonderful time. 360’ views of beauty! The cottage is equipped and decorated to a very high standard and both beds were very comfortable . The location is excellent for walking and cycling straight from the door. Many quaint villages to visit with Tea rooms and pubs a plenty. We shall return.

Wow what a stay at Monket Cottage! Finished to the highest spec the cottage is a luxurious bolthole in the middle of the North York Moors. Positioned perfectly to visit all North Yorkshire has to offer, with the coast 25 minutes in one direction and picturesque market towns such as Helmsley 25 minutes in the other. The quality of the interiors is second to none with great linen and comfy mattresses! The icing on the cake is the wonderful views from the property. With sheep grazing outside your full height bedroom window you couldn’t ask for much more! Our hosts were excellent and accommodating and couldn’t have been better! Found the cottage via the dark skies festival website and couldn’t have been more impressed with the night sky, stunning!
