Walk through the front door of Railwayman's Cottage and you're into a properly laid-out home: ground floor holds the living and dining rooms, each with a gas fire, plus a kitchen and utility space; upstairs are two generously sized bedrooms and a bathroom with shower over the bath. One bedroom has a double bed, the other two singles. The whole place is yours alone, with heating, electricity, bed linen and towels sorted, and wifi throughout.
The kitchen is equipped for cooking proper meals—gas oven, hob, microwave and fridge mean you're not limited to takeaways. Beyond the back door is an enclosed lawned garden where you can actually sit down between activities. A bike store is there if you've brought machines. The cottage dates to the 1870s and was originally built by the Midland Railway Company for its workers; Hellifield itself is a quiet Dales village with a pub within walking distance. Cot and highchair are available if needed. No smoking inside.
