Rudda Farm Cottages - Rudda Farm House
North Yorkshire
View on Google MapsThe North Yorkshire coast sits between two characterful towns—Whitby to the north with its cobbled streets and independent shops, Scarborough to the south. Rudda Farm House occupies the quieter middle ground in Staintondale, a semi-detached property on a working farm with immediate access to both coastal paths and National Park walks. One dog stays free, and there is bike storage on site for exploring further afield.
Four bedrooms sleep eight: a kingsize, a double, two singles, and a bunk room. Downstairs you have a living room with a multi-fuel burner and countryside views, a kitchen/dining room with full cooking equipment (dishwasher, American fridge, microwave), and a separate utility room with laundry facilities. Upstairs, a bathroom with bath and separate shower room serve the bedrooms. The essentials—heating, electricity, linen, towels and wifi—are included, along with initial logs for the burner and a welcome pack. An enclosed garden wraps around the front with a patio and seating at the rear, plus a barbecue for outdoor meals.
The location suits families and groups wanting to base themselves for exploring: hidden coves and beaches lie within reach, seal colonies live at the foot of cliffs near Ravenscar, and coastal villages like Robin Hood's Bay are close by. Whitby offers restaurants ranging from traditional fish and chips to gastropubs, many welcoming dogs. Private parking fits three cars. No smoking indoors.

Cosy cottage with plenty of space inside with large on-suite superking main bedroom, twin bedroom with large private bathroom, galley size fully equipped kitchen and good size sitting room with nice wood burner, a little plain for our tastes but cosy and being well equipped made up for that.

I took my elderly parents here at the beginning of July, I didn't know what to expect as it was so reasonably priced, but it exceeded all expectations. From the generous off road parking to the huge farm house we stayed in, there were 5 of us and we had ample room, 3 double settees in the living room, the biggest kitchen I've been in for a long time, really well stocked with utensils and crockery. Loved being on a working farm, we had the close proximity of Scarborough and Whitby but the beauty of the open countryside. Would highly recommend.

(Group of 7 including a child) Beautiful location! So peaceful and quiet. The cottage it’s self was lovely (very spacious too) however the few cons were that the furniture felt quite damp on arrival (maybe it had been empty for a few weeks before we arrived though?) and the ‘’games room’’ was a disappointment - it was outside & had a fair bit of wear and tear too it. I’d 100% still recommend it! Our toddler loved the outdoor space/farm nearby. Loved that there was something for everyone, nearby! Will visit again.
