Saltwater Cottage
North Yorkshire
Staithes is a working fishing village where narrow streets run down to the water's edge, and the Cleveland Way footpath connects the surrounding coastline. Saltwater Cottage sits yards from the harbour, with the sea wall and coastal paths immediately accessible on foot. The village has independent shops, cafés, a gallery showing local artists, and the Captain Cook and Staithes Heritage Centre.
The cottage is a single open-plan living space downstairs, with a kitchen equipped for proper cooking and a wood-burning stove that warms the room. Upstairs is a bedroom with a king bed and glimpses of the sea, plus a shower room with underfloor heating. Electricity, Wi-Fi, bed linen and towels are all included, along with initial fuel for the stove. There is free parking in the village car park. The property sleeps two and does not permit smoking.
This works as a base for exploring the bays and villages along the coast, or for days spent in the village itself—the kind of place where you return to the cottage after walking the clifftops and settle by the fire with a view of the harbour.
