Castle Lodge suits couples and those after a quiet retreat. This single-bedroom, ground-floor lodge sleeps two and welcomes one pet at no extra cost. The open-plan living space centres on a kingsize bed, with a compact kitchen, shower room, and dining area all on one level. French doors from the kitchen lead to an enclosed decking area with garden furniture, where you can sit outside with a view across the Vale of York towards the castle ruins.
The essentials are covered—electricity, bed linen and towels are included, and there is private parking for one car on site. The lodge has no Wi-Fi or television, making it genuinely quiet. A pub lies within a mile's walk, and the village centre is similarly close. Sheriff Hutton Post Office marks the locality. Those who want to explore further can reach Castle Howard in half an hour by car, or York itself in about the same time.

Had an amazing wedding here. The hosts were attentive working with us to provide small needs such as seating for 40 guests. Blankets, tables and table cloths and lighting all free of charge. They were also great accommodation hosts as multiple accommodations on site and we felt well looked after and knew our wedding was in safe hands.

We stayed at the Castle Lodge for two nights as we were attending a Hand-fasting Ceremony. Loved it, we are now looking to book the lodge just for a few nights later in the year.
