The Follies - The Low Lodge

The Low Lodge is one of two detached gatehouses converted from a Grade II listed ruin originally built in 1825. Stone from Filey Brigg gives it distinctive character. Inside, the ground floor opens into a living room with smart TV, then a kitchen-dining space equipped for proper cooking: electric oven, hob, microwave and dishwasher, plus a washer-dryer. A bathroom with bath and shower completes this level. Upstairs, a galleried double bedroom (4ft 6in bed) overlooks the grounds. The essentials—heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and wifi—are all included, plus there's an external freezer for extra storage.

The property sits within three-quarters of an acre of shared grounds where rabbits, owls and squirrels move freely among natural plantings. You have a private parking space for one car and access to a patio with garden furniture. One well-behaved pet can join you. Filey town centre, with its wide beach and seaside facilities, lies three miles away. The North Yorkshire coast, moors and wolds are within easy reach, and Scarborough, Bridlington and York are all accessible drives. Local attractions include a nine-hole golf course, fishing, the RSPB reserve at Bempton Cliffs for birdwatchers, and various shops and pubs within walking distance—the nearest shops are 500 yards away. The property does not suit guests with mobility restrictions, and is for adults only. No smoking indoors.
