The Railway Inn

Stopped over here, unfortunately we booked several nights after a Bank Holiday weekend. Not the cleanest site, with dated facilities, such as outside (uncovered and totally exposed) potwash, 80's shower/toilet portakabin. The pub has limited opening days and I guess corresponding this limited the facility cleaning days, certainly wasn't cleaned for 2 days in my experience (same black undies, as seen in the photo, on the floor as an example) Claimed as dog friendly, but no walking on site and suggested exercise area meant a very dangerous (especially the railway bridge bit with foot wide pavement) walk first!! Depending on your pitch, you could be close to the main England/Scotland train link (high speed trains) and of course the local ones that stop next to the site, or the road. Alternatively you could get lucky, we got the railway bit and when I asked to move, got short shift, but you could get lucky. In her defence, she had a very busy bank holiday weekend and the day aftet, when she wanted to chill a customer wanted to move to a vacant pitch... Whilst at busy times you could be asked to share pitches and electrics as the pub maximised occupancy, you will be offered/provided with electric splitters, if you understand this limitation then its OK I guess. Overnight stop, adequate, weekly stop wouldn't be my recommendation and with lots of alternative options, especially price to offering, this will be my last stop here. Final comment... we left early... moving on to our next stop a day early, but later than we should have..

Just had 3 brilliant night's at the railway inn first time we have been there. The caravan pitch was perfect loads of room. showers really good plenty hot water any time, The bar staff really friendly, and the food was amazing, will definitely be going back, Paul and Jackie Towers.

So glad we found this place,we take our rv to the site,which is in a great position for nice walks and of course having the pub there is a bonus. It serves lovely food and sometimes has a singer in the evening,which it did when we were there,she was really good,had a wonderful evening. Henry is very welcoming and a good laugh. Pub is dog friendly. This is our second time here and we’ll definitely be back. All waitresses are lovely,sorry but didn’t catch the blonde waitress’s name but she is so much fun. party of 4, campervan and cottage, unsure if I should book as reviews were up and down, camp site was good well looked after grass and hard standing pitches were large,cottage would have been nice but needs a bit tlc, damp smell, bit of a clean lick of paint. ,Bins yes they get full but as reviews said these were over full,toilets dated but clean , pub ok, book early as most of the menu was sold out evening meal 7.30, pub very busy during the day,price of stay ive had better,ive had worse, staff were very nice,
