Large groups and extended families need somewhere everyone fits comfortably, and Bamburgh House does exactly that. Six bedrooms spread across two floors sleep up to 12 people – two double four-posters, and four further rooms with pairs of single beds. Two bathrooms serve the property, both with baths and showers. The whole place is yours alone, with parking for five cars and an enclosed garden with seating outside.

Downstairs centres on a living room with woodburner and smart TV, opening into a kitchen with electric oven and hob, dishwasher, fridge-freezer and all the usual cooking kit. The essentials are covered: electricity, heating, bed linen, towels and wifi included. A separate dining area and family room with another television give different spaces for cooking, eating and relaxing. If you have children, a stairgate and cot are available, and a welcome pack arrives when you check in. One dog stays free, with extras provided.

The cottage is a mile or so from Adderstone Services and sits within the rural landscape of inland Northumberland, between Belford and the A1. Smoking is not permitted inside.

Nicely maintained, clean apartment in a very handy location at a good price. Any issues we has were relatively minor, stair gate not working, no mirror over the basin in bathroom made shaving awkward. Happily go back.

We had a great week staying in Cuthbert cottage which is part of this small collection of cottages. Although only five minutes from the A1, it’s very quiet with very quick access to the outstandingly beautiful Northumberland coast. Our cottage was very well equipped, superb communication from the owner and just the right size for a family of four. Car parking is allocated removing any stress of finding a space. Each cottage has a small outside space, ours also a balcony, if you’re looking for a private garden probably not for you but with such stunning outside space on your doorstep it’s not really needed. Photos are of the cottage and surrounding area.

Great stay, v pleased with accommodation. By a quiet road . Yes car needed to travel to sights, eateries etc but that is what you should expect in a quiet remote rural location

Quite nicely finished relatively newly converted holiday cottages, but downsides are:- 8-10 cottages of various sizes all bordering onto each other with a shared central pebble stone courtyard. No green space for children to play. Being picky - Owners say "attention to detail" but no towels or sheets on arrival, some basics missing, TV reception poor on terrestrial channels. Nothing within walking distance and about 15 mins drive to Bamburgh and coast.
