Through the front door of Melrose Cottage you step into a ground-floor living and dining space with a wood burner set into a substantial inglenook fireplace. The room opens directly into a kitchen fitted with gas and electric cooking, a breakfast bar, and enough storage for a week's groceries. Upstairs are two bedrooms—one with a kingsize bed, one with two singles—and a shower room with a walk-in enclosure. Smart TVs are in each bedroom and the living room. A small enclosed patio to the rear has garden furniture and a barbecue, though this is shared with other properties on the site.
Melrose Cottage sits on a terraced street in Amble, the working fishing harbour that doubles as the friendliest port on the Northumberland coast. The high street and seafront are a short walk away; the Heritage Coast and Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty stretch along this stretch of the shoreline. The cottage sleeps four, allows one pet free of charge, and comes with bed linen, towels, wi-fi, and logs for the wood burner. There is no smoking inside. Parking is on the road outside.

A great place to stay. The double room, complete with complimentary coffee and tea available. Onsuite, which was very roomy, a smart tv if you didn't wish to go out. A very comfortable bed situated in a large comfortable room. Our hosts Clare and Paul were actually on site when we arrived, and were very helpful, and couldn't do enough for us. Located close to the harbour which hosts a large outdoor market on a Sunday. It is also just a short walk to the main street area and there are plenty of shops, cafes and bars, were you are made very welcome. It was a thoroughly enjoyable stay, and we will definitely be returning, in the near future.

Just back from a lovely weekend stay at the Amble Harbour Retreat. Thoroughly recommend staying here, great location and everything you need on the doorstep. Hosts Paul and Clair very friendly and we will do a return visit.

Paul and Clare were great hosts, we stayed in the studio, nice clean room, perfect location. Close to all amenities, some nice pubs nearby, plenty places to eat. Close to the sea, lovely little town and friendly place.

We had a great stay at the amble harbour. The rooms was lovely, very clean. We had a problem with the tv and Paul popped up and sorted it for us no problem. Absolutely lovely hosts, and would definitely stay again, hopefully very soon!
