This 18th-century whitewashed cottage retains the character of a traditional fisherman's home, built into a small terrace beside The Cottage Inn. It sits in Dunstan, a quiet hamlet a mile inland from Craster, the working fishing port known for smoked kippers. The building itself is the draw—genuine period structure rather than pastiche—offering something altogether different from modern self-catering.
Inside, the ground floor is one open space with kitchen, dining and living areas flowing together; a 42-inch smart TV serves the living zone. Upstairs are two bedrooms: one double, one single, sharing a bathroom with bath and shower. The essentials are covered—heating, electricity, linen, towels and wifi are all included, and there is parking for one car on site. One dog can stay free. No smoking throughout.
Craster itself is within walking distance or a short drive, and Alnwick is reached by regular bus. The Cottage Inn next door serves food, with a shop and restaurant also within reach on foot. The coast and surrounding countryside lie close by, making this a base for exploring rather than a rural retreat far from anywhere.
