Blakey House
Northumberland
The Coquet Valley holds a clutch of holiday cottages on the grounds of Brinkburn Estate, a historic site centred on the priory. Blakey House is one of four in a small terrace, set within 35 acres of private woodland where guests can walk straight from the door and reach the River Coquet within half a mile. The whole property is yours alone, with two bedrooms each containing a zip-and-link super king bed (which can be split into two singles on request), and two ensuite shower rooms.
The ground-floor layout keeps everything on one level: a living room with a wood burner and smart TV, a kitchen/dining room with oven, hob, microwave, dishwasher and washing machine, and direct access to a rear garden with seating and a BBQ. Electricity, Wi-Fi, bed linen and towels are all included, as is the initial fuel for the wood burner. One dog can stay free and has access to the grounds, though must be kept on a lead due to livestock. There is dedicated car parking for two vehicles on site.
The estate sits beside the priory and its grounds, with woodland paths leading from the property itself and complimentary river fishing 500 yards away. The setting suits families, friends or anyone wanting to explore the countryside without straying far from a comfortable base. Smoking is not permitted.
