Conway Cottage suits couples and small families after a break with space to themselves. This Grade II listed semi-detached property sits just off Morpeth's high street, behind secure gates that open onto a large private courtyard—a genuine retreat rather than a front-facing presence. The cottage was once a blacksmith's workshop in the 19th century and retains its original character: exposed stone walls frame an inglenook fireplace now housing a wood burner, with contemporary shutters softening the period features. One dog stays free of charge.

Downstairs holds a sitting room with woodburner and Freeview, a separate dining room, and a kitchen equipped for proper cooking—electric oven and hob, dishwasher, washing machine. A ground-floor toilet and shower room with double shower are separate spaces. Upstairs, one bedroom has a double bed (4ft 6in), the other two singles (3ft each). Electricity, heating, wifi, bed linen and towels are included; initial logs for the burner come with the booking.

The River Coquet runs nearby for gentle walks or fishing; the Simonside Hills appeal to stronger walkers. Cragside House, a National Trust property with notable gardens, lies within walking distance. Local pubs serve food, and Rothbury—a few minutes away—has cafés, shops and a golf course. The courtyard is enclosed and private, with seating areas for morning tea or evening relaxation.

A very nice and well-equipped holiday home. The bathroom was good, the beds were okay, and the furnishings were perfect. Everything you need is there. The rooms are tastefully decorated. Despite the central location, it's very quiet. Everything was excellent.

Visiting Northumberland for the first time. What a Treat. The Cottage is outstanding. The best Cottage I have stayed in, as it has everything there. The Cottage is beautifully decorated and furnished. With everything you could possibly need.just like home from home.It even provides a wellie boot remover!! The surrounding area is magnificent. Rothbury is a very quaint. With excellent shops and superb restaurants. Would really recommend the Cottage for a wonderfully restful break.
