Embleton Beach and the Northumberland coast are within easy reach of Shellrigg, a cottage on the Doxford Estate near Chathill. The area suits walking and exploring—there is plenty to discover along the shoreline and across the surrounding countryside. The estate itself has shared grounds with a children's play area, and a games room with table football and air hockey.
The cottage is split over two floors. Downstairs, the living room has a wood-burner and opens onto a private garden with seating; the kitchen is fully equipped for cooking, with a dishwasher, electric oven and hob, and French doors that lead outside. Upstairs is a bedroom with a zip-and-link bed (which can be arranged as either a kingsize or twin beds), and an ensuite bathroom with a bath and shower. Electricity, heating, bed linen, towels and wi-fi are all included; logs for the stove are provided.
The cottage is for two people only. There is unfenced water in the estate grounds. One car can be parked on the property. No smoking is permitted inside.

We recently stayed in Shellrig cottage and were “wowed” by the huge food hamper awaiting us. So welcoming, thank you. Great location for exploring North Northumberland. We recommend boat trip to Farne Islands from Seahouses, Alnwick Gardens, Lindisfarne and Bamburgh Castle. Accommodation good overall apart from minor plumbing issue which has probably been sorted by now.
