A pub lies within a mile on foot, and the river is close enough for regular rambles along its banks. Hadrian's Wall, Kielder Water and the Corbridge Roman Site are all reachable for a day out. The cottage sits in the Dark Sky area, which matters if you want to see stars properly at night. East Woodburn itself is quiet—sheep, birdsong and streams are the soundtrack rather than traffic.
Middles Cottage is a stone terrace that sleeps four: a kingsize bed and a bunk room upstairs, one bathroom. Downstairs there is a living room with a woodburning stove, a kitchen with electric cooking, and a small conservatory that opens to the rear garden. A smart TV and Netflix are set up if you want them. Wi-Fi, bed linen, towels and the initial fuel for the stove are included. There is parking on the road outside and a bike store. A travel cot and highchair are available if needed. No smoking indoors.
The place suits couples or a small family wanting both comfort and quiet, with enough walking, cycling and exploring nearby to fill several days. The heating is gas-fired and the essentials for self-catering are provided.
