About The Gun at Ridsdale
Step into one of the three rooms at The Gun at Ridsdale and you get a comfortable, well-kept space with an en-suite bathroom, modern touches and views out over the Northumberland countryside. It's a small operation by design, more traditional inn than large hotel, which means the rooms feel personal rather than standardised, with drinks available in room and family rooms among the options for those travelling together.
Downstairs, the pub side of the property does much of the work. The restaurant and bar serve hearty, generously portioned food at fair prices, and breakfast is included for those staying over. There's a garden and outdoor seating for warmer days, a games room for something to do in the evening, and the atmosphere throughout has the feel of a proper community local rather than a formal hotel dining room. Free WiFi and luggage storage cover the practical side of things.
Outside, the area suits walkers and anyone keen on the outdoors, with fishing and golf nearby along with other pubs, restaurants and entertainment within reach. Free on-site parking makes it a straightforward stop for those exploring Hexham and the wider Northumberland countryside by car.

What guests say
Just returned home after four nights at the Gun Hotel. What a fabulous experience. The staff were so friendly and attentive, nothing was too much trouble. Food was first class and the rooms spotless. We were exploring the wonderful countryside and the brilliant roads were enjoyed by My two friends and I all on motorcycles. We have booked for next year and look forward to seeing the staff again and the locals who were just superb. Would recommend a stay at the Gun. Thanks guys. Paul,Shane and Malcolm Three mad Scots

Stayed for a night last week, pub is excellent, the room was very clean and a comfortable bed, shower was good, had an evening meal which was very reasonably priced and tasty, there was a pub quiz on so quite busy, locals were very friendly and the staff couldn't do enough. It's quite refreshing to stay in a nice pub these days especially with things getting ever more expensive, value for money and quality.

Remotely located, this community run pub/restaurant/accommodation was a lovely 3 day break. Staff (who are largely volunteers) were very friendly and helpful. Food excellent, room very clean and comfortable.

Well great friendly staff all local as it is a Community run, the Sunday Lunch is small but not the portions, believe me, had the deep fried garlic mushrooms and fried halloumi with sweet chilli very good. The Sunday lunch mains pork, beef or lamb or combinations of 2 or all three. Had the three five slices of beef, 5 slices lamb and 5 slices pork 7 roast potatoes, mashed potatoes, mashed turnip and 2 Yorkshire puddings, on the plate then side dish of broccoli, Cauliflower, peas and carrots a pot of extra gravy. £19.95 it was to say the least filling (see photos). Lamb and pork was soft and juicy the beef was well done no pink but was still good. Really recommend Ps evening meal small list but sirloin with trimmings £20.95.......
