Murton Cottage is a converted farm building two miles south of Berwick-upon-Tweed, on the edge of a landscape defined by rolling hills and moorland. The Cheviots dominate walking routes from the doorstep; Cocklawburn beach sits three miles away; Holy Island lies ten miles off. For something more structured, riding is available a short walk away, while Eyemouth and Coldingham offer sea fishing and diving opportunities. Boat trips to the Farne Islands depart from Seahouses, and Alnwick, Bamburgh and Paxton all hold houses and gardens worth the drive.
The cottage sleeps six across three bedrooms: one with a king bed and ensuite shower, two others with single beds each. The ground floor contains a kitchen with a full range of appliances, a dining room and a separate bathroom upstairs with bath and shower. Upstairs, a living room has a multi-fuel burner, smart TV and DVD player. Essentials including electricity, heating, wifi and bed linen are covered. A small enclosed garden has furniture; there is parking for residents. The cottage does not permit smoking.
Berwick itself, two miles away, has restaurants, shops and pubs; more eating places are within a short drive. The nearby villages of Etal and Duddo are worth exploring in their own right. This suits families or groups wanting a base for coastal and upland exploration rather than town-centre proximity.

A place to avoid. Booked for 7 nights and stayed 2 nights. Contacted the owner who showed no interest in any of our concerns. Finding that the two fire extinguishers in the property were 10 and 11 years out of date tells you about the level of Maintenance this property has.
