Alnwick is a working market town with castle, gardens and independent shops on its cobbled streets. From here, the Alnwick Castle and Alnwick Garden are immediate draws. Four miles east the coastal village of Alnmouth has a long sandy beach. To the west, Rothbury and the Simonside Hills are a short drive away. The Northumberland Heritage Coast lies within reach to the east, while the Cheviot Hills spread across the western horizon. The John Bull Inn and other pubs and restaurants are within the town. The property does not permit smoking.
