Newbiggin-by-the-Sea is a small, functioning seaside town where fishing boats still work the bay and the local dolphin watch team turns out regularly. The promenade stretches for a mile, lined with a bandstand, ice cream parlour, and the Maritime Centre at one end. The village has restaurants, a craft ale bar, cafés and pubs, with The New Ship within walking distance. Alnwick Castle lies 25 miles north; Morpeth, with its shops and restaurants, is 8 miles inland.
Seaside Retreat occupies the first floor of a terraced house on a quiet residential street in the west end, with its own entrance and on-road parking. Two bedrooms sleep four: one double and one with twin singles. The bathroom has a bath and shower cubicle. Downstairs, the living and dining room has a 42-inch smart TV and electric fire; the kitchen is fitted for self-catering, with electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge, freezer, washing machine and tumble dryer. Electricity, bed linen, towels and WiFi are included. No smoking inside.
The beach is 150 yards away. Shops and a pub are even closer, and the Northumbrian Heritage Coast—designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty—is easily reached by following the coast road north from the village.
